We don't see people as broken

We help them discover the best version of themselves

With 30 years of experience, we deliver student self-regulation programs through the art of speciality coffee roasting, supporting young people in discovering the best version of themselves.

We believe in this.
Enough to take the risk with you.

We are so convinced of the integrity of this programme that we were willing to take on the cost of the espresso machine and the roaster ourselves. This is not just about equipment; it’s about a partnership in student potential.

The "One Student" ROI

If only one student in your school moves from a triggered self to their true self, the benefit to your community over their lifetime is incalculable. That is the measure we care about.

We provide all of the equipment, the vocational training, the ongoing professional support, and we structure the programme to become self-sustaining. Your investment is in belief, not machinery.

We use Precision Coffee Roasting to Power Student Self-Regulation Programs

Turning reactive behaviour into technical mastery. Your coffee Hub is a safe haven for students to develop student self-regulation skills through the discipline of specialty coffee roasting. We replace ‘acting out’ with ‘acting with precision.’

The Smoke Detector

We teach students to identify emotional triggers before they lead to a "system failure." Early recognition means early intervention.

The Watchtower

We strengthen the student's ability to stay calm under pressure. This is executive function development in action, awareness before reaction.

Bottom-Up Regulation

We use coffee's tactile craft to ground the nervous system's bottom-up regulation in action. The body learns first.

Practical Maintenance

We provide a world-first. Hands-on vocational training in preventative maintenance and system diagnostics. Students don't just use the machinery; they learn the mechanical integrity of high-end industrial equipment. Real skills for the real world.

Industrial Mastery

Another first. We train students to roast speciality coffee to professional industrial standards using data-driven thermal curves. This is not a hobby; it is a high-level vocational skill that demands absolute focus, precision, and real diagnostic thinking.

The Economic Engine

We turn the roastery into a viable school enterprise program. By producing a commercial-grade speciality coffee product, the programme can become self-sustaining, teaching students the real-world link between technical craft and financial viability.

THE BUSINESS CASE

A Self-Funding Asset for Your School

This is not charity; it is intelligent design. A student-run enterprise built to be cost-neutral or profit-positive, delivering potentially $20,000 annual surplus whilst transforming at-risk young people. Professional vocational outcomes meet educational purposes.

Core Philosophy

"What you do matters, but who you are matters more"

Laura Duncan/Triggered & True

Our Conviction

We don’t believe students are “broken.” We don’t believe they need to be “fixed.” Every student has an original design that is often just covered up by the stress of a system that wasn’t built for them. Our trauma-informed school wellbeing programme starts with that belief, and it’s designed to address student disengagement at its root.

The Method

We use speciality coffee roasting as a diagnostic tool, one of the most effective student self-regulation programs available to schools today. In the rhythm of roasting and the precision of maintenance, students learn to navigate their internal “Dashboard.” The tactile craft grounds the nervous system. The responsibility anchors the identity. And the true self emerges naturally.

The Founder – Lived Experience

The system left me behind. I was one of those kids. I have spent 40 years in the coffee industry and aircraft engineering, but my real achievement is in finding the way back to my unique identity. This is not a course we are teaching; it is a path we are modelling.

Aircraft engineering taught me precision. Coffee taught me patience. It took me a lifetime to realise that being average is a superpower once it is coupled with identity. This is the heart of our student identity development approach. Identity is not built, it is uncovered. That is what we do. Our approach is grounded in the science of self-regulation research.

Ready to give them something real?

Let's have a steady conversation

This programme works because it is built on truth: students need responsibility, hands-on craft, and the space to discover who they are. Our approach to student self-regulation and emotional well-being has been proven. Now we are ready to prove it works in your school.

01

Initial Conversation

We discuss your school’s unique context, student demographics, and vision for vocational identity programmes.

02

Programme Design

We customise the roastery setup, training schedule, and sustainability model to fit your requirements and resources.

03

Installation & Training

Professional equipment installation, comprehensive staff training, and student orientation in the neurobiological framework for emotional regulation.

04

Ongoing Partnership

Continuous professional support, quality assurance, and refinement as your programme grows and adapts.

The machinery has value. The coffee has value. But the transformation of a student who discovers their true self? That’s the measure that matters. Let’s build something real together.

The Human Impact

Resilience, Identity, and the Power of Agency

Technical skill is only half the story. The real breakthrough happens when you become as curious about yourself as you are about the systems you manage.

Our programme is designed to give you more than just a certificate; it gives students the confidence to navigate the real world with real agency. We focus on four key pillars of the human experience:

  • Curiosity over Reaction: Learning to understand why you trigger, so you can respond with intent rather than impulse.
  • Resilience: Equipping you with the specific skills needed to step into any environment and hold your ground.

  • The Superpower of the Individual: Embracing the fact that your unique perspective is your greatest professional asset.

  • Unshakable Agency: Knowing that you are the pilot of your own career, with the power to make choices that align with who you are.

When you understand the “why” behind your actions, you don’t just work better—you live better.

The Business Case: Engineering a Self-Funding Asset

More Than a Café: The Architecture of a Coffee Business

This isn’t just training; it’s a world-first curriculum designed to turn students into high-value business assets. We go beyond the “front-of-house” by teaching Industrial Precision Roasting and Preventative Equipment Maintenance—skills that are usually outsourced at a high cost, now kept entirely in-house.

When fully adopted, this programme is designed to be entirely self-funding. By mastering the technical side of the supply chain and the mechanics of the machinery, your team stops being a cost center and starts being a profit engine.

Our graduates don’t just “work in a café”; they understand the mechanics of a Coffee Roasting Business. They enter the real world with a unique “superpower” of technical independence, making them indispensable to employers who value efficiency, reliability, and world-class standards.

“Graduates don’t just bring technical skills; they bring Professional Resilience. They know how to diagnose and fix the machines; they don’t panic when things go wrong—they solve the problem.”
